Free spam blocker

November 13, 2009

There are two types of spam blockers in the internet world. You have a free spam blocker and a spam blocker you can purchase through anti spam software. The overall importance of both is much the same. When you have a free spam blocker we are typically referring to the spam blockers available via email providers. Most of the email providers such as AOL, MSN, Yahoo, and Google offer protection from spam in various ways. One of the ways is the free spam blocker you get with the free email accounts.

A spam blocker is a little different than your typical spam filter, in that you are blocking images as well as emails or more specifically spam. The filters are designed not only to stop spam and place it in a junk folder, but also to separate other email. Say for instance you had a folder for your online accounts, credit card statements, or just for specific individuals you tend to save emails from. The filters are going to be able to separate the emails into the various folders. The free spam blocker is not going to be that advanced. Instead the free spam blocker has been created to just block the actual spam from entering into your account at all.

When you go into your email under the options or user preferences you will see a selection for blockers. When you click on this area you are brought to a list of email addresses that have been blocked when you select spam in the inbox. You can add to this list at anytime or edit the list in case a friend or other important email accidently became blocked. This area allows you to set up, which emails you want to come into your inbox or even your junk mail folder. If you have heard about a new email address that is specifically known to be spam you are actually able to enter that email address in the free spam blocker to avoid the hassle in the future.

You are also able to take the free spam blocker to another level. You can have the free spam blocker actually block out images. This means that any email with a suspected spam image will be blocked. You can also have all images blocked by this free spam blocker, until you have had time to sort through the list. This gives you a little more control over what the account will delete.
